Human controls
- A person owns emergency, angry, sensitive, and ambiguous calls
- Prices and availability come from approved rules or a human—not model improvisation
- Scripts and disclosures require owner and appropriate compliance review
Phones and lead capture
Decide how unanswered inbound calls should be captured, qualified, routed, and handed to a person without pretending every call can be automated.
The real problem
A missed call is not automatically a lost sale, and an AI voice agent is not automatically the answer. The useful question is which calls arrive, what customers need, what information is safe to collect, and how quickly a human can take over.
Evidence before advice
Workflow spine
Separate answered, missed, abandoned, spam, and after-hours calls.
Collect only approved details and apply deterministic service-area and urgency rules.
Transfer or alert a person when the request, sentiment, or risk falls outside the safe script.
Write a traceable summary to the system your team already uses.
Track contact rate, qualified conversations, handoff failures, and booked outcomes.
Measurement
Boundary source: FCC guidance on AI-generated voices and the TCPA. The session is operational planning, not legal advice.
The useful starting point is actual volume, inputs, owners, failure cases, and outcomes—not a request to “add AI.”
